The Scottish Association of Local Sports Councils held their annual National Inter Sports Council Junior Bowls Tournament on Sunday 12th August at Rutherglen Bowling Club in Glasgow. Grampian Juniors win the SALSC Junior Bowling Tournament for the first time ! It was a close match, but Jak and Tommy won 8 - 5 to take the title. They then faced Jak Miller (Seafield) and Tommy Eddie (Inverbervie) in the final. Carla and Cameron won their quarter final game and also their semi final match too. Jason & Liam then got beat 8 - 7 by James McDougall and Declan Urquhart. Both Jason and Carla’s teams won all their section games and so proceeded to the quarter finals. Unfortunately David and Ross didn’t make it through to the knock out stages. There were a lot of close games throughout the round-robin matches and even the rain didn’t stop the youngsters enjoying the day. Jason was with Liam Willox (Insch) and Carla was skip to Cameron Taylor (Insch). David was paired up with Heather Garvie, while Ross was lead to Ariana Mowat. Inverurie Bowling Club had 4 entries into the competition - David and Ross Thomson and Jason and Carla Banks. The Grampian Juniors Bowling Association held the annual pairs competition on Sunday 24th June at Whitehall Bowling Club. Scott was delighted to be awarded a well deserved Runner Up Youth Trophy. Scott Thomson reached the Final,īut unfortunately got beat by Lee Trotter of Turriff. Carla was proud to have become only the second girl to claim the Grampian Juniors BA Singles Title and take home the beautiful crystal thistle shaped trophy.The 4 youngest players at the competition played each other for the Grampian Junior Youth Trophy. Carla then beat Kevin 15 - 5 in the Final to take the title. The other Semi Final was between Ronald McDougall (Bonnymuir) and Kevin Murray (Westhill), with Kevin beating Ronald 11 - 10. Carla won her group, which included Inverurie BC club mates David and Andrew Thomson.Carla then played against Kieran Craigen (Whitehall) in the Semi Final and beat him 10 - 9. The winners of each section then went forward to play each other in the Semi Finals. Competitors were drawn into 4 sections of 5 and played each other in a round robin format. The 2014 Grampian Juniors Singles competition was held at Kittybrewster and Woodend Bowling Club on Sunday 8th June.

All the Inverurie members enjoyed the day and went home happy to have been involved in playing with the juniors. There were mixed fortunes for the Inverurie teams, with Andrew and Bill losing to Kieran's team and finishing second, while Carla's team beat James McDougall to land third place.

Carla's team were runners up to Kieran Craigen, and went on to play James McDougall's team. Andrew and Bill's team (skipped by Callum Work) won their section and went through to the Final. The winners of each section played each other for first and second place, while the runners up of each section played for 3rd and 4th places. There were 2 sections of 5 teams playing in a round robin format. Just like last year Carla was drawn to play with another Inverurie club mate, this time Scott Thomson. The adults were lead and third, while the juniors played second and skip. Each pair was picked out of a hat to join with another pair to make up a fours team. Carla Banks was with her mum Angela, Scott Thomson was with his dad Billy, Andrew Thomson was with Bill Dalgarno, David Thomson was with Wendy Dalgarno and Ross Thomson was with Margaret Christie.

There were a number of Inverurie players involved in the competition. The Grampian Juniors Bowling Association Generation Fours Competition which was held at Kittybrewster and Woodside Bowling Club on Sunday 22nd June.
